King Hussein left hospital a day after he was admitted for check-ups and observation because of an irregular heartbeat, AP reports from Amman.

King Hussein, 57, smiled and waved to crowds of well-wishers who jammed the Hussein Medical Centre entrance to watch him climb into the front seat of a Mercedes limousine driven by his wife, Queen Noor. Earlier yesterday the monarch, who underwent cancer surgery in the US last year, reassured his subjects in a radio address that his heart ailment was not life-threatening.
