SYDNEY (AFP) - Figures released yesterday showing sharp rises in job vacancies and retail sales gave Australia's Labor government a boost as the latest opinion polls show Saturday's election is now too close to call. A poll in the Australian showed Paul Keating's ruling Labor Party equal with the conservative coalition under John Hewson. Today's Time magazine puts the coalition ahead by 51 to 49 per cent, but Bulletin magazine puts Labor ahead by the same margin.
