Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, says his chances of avoiding the death penalty through an appeal are "slim to none". Mr McVeigh, in the first of a two-part jailhouse interview published in Sunday's edition of the Buffalo News, also refused to say if he committed the bombing or if he knew who did. He was convicted in June of the blast that killed 168 people and injured hundreds in 1995. The paper interviewed McVeigh on Friday at the maximum-security federal penitentiary in Florence, Colorado.
When asked if he thought he could win freedom on appeal - a process which experts say could take two to four years - McVeigh said his chances were "slim to none". AP - Buffalo, New York
