Alderbrook, back in the care of Julie Cecil, finished unplaced on his return to the Flat yesterday in the Group Two Prix d'Harcourt at Longchamp.
The six-year-old was trained by Kim Bailey to win the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. But on his return to the scene of his success in the Prix Dollar last October, he was not in the first three home.
The mile-and-a-quarter event, run on heavy going, went to Andr Fabre's Freedom Cry, with Paul Kelleway's Pelder second.
