Almanack: Forward thinking

AN intriguing marketing campaign has been launched in the Caribbean. Directly behind the wicket at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad are two hoardings advertising London Irish RFC. Almanack called the struggling Courage League club's general manager, David Coleman. What is the point of the campaign? 'We're trying to recruit some 6ft 10in Caribbean forwards,' Coleman said. 'We're spreading our net wider, looking for talent all over the world.'

Almanack suspects the Exiles' man was being a little disingenuous. But his club are threatened with relegation from the top division at the moment, and you've got to admit that Curtly would be useful at the back of the line-out.
