Hugh Duff, the champion back in 1988 and the beaten finalist 12 months ago, moved through to the World Indoor Championship final in Preston again yesterday when he recovered from dropping the opening set to beat the English qualifier Greg Harlow 5-7, 7-4, 7-4, 7-6.
Duff now faces England's Andy Thomson, winner of the indoor singles title in 1994 and 1995, in tomorrow's final. Thomson made an even better recovery than Duff, beating New Zealander Rowan Brassey from two sets down in the other semi-final.
Thomson's 6-7, 5-7, 7-4, 7-4, 7-3 success gives him the chance of his third title in four years.
