New methods to determine whether fighters are fit to compete are set to be introduced in the wake of Oliver McCall's emotional breakdown in the ring during his World Boxing Council title fight against Lennox Lewis in Las Vegas last week. Marc Ratner, executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission, said his boxing governing body are considering mandatory time limits for fighters to have completed rehabilitation programmes.

Paul Douglas, the Belfast cruiserweight, has been forced to pull out of his fight against North London's Peter Oboe at the Grundy Leisure Centre in Cheshunt next Tuesday after damaging a hand in training.
