Willie Carson is expected to leave the intensive care unit at North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke today.
The 53-year-old jockey, who suffered a severe laceration to his liver when cow-kicked in the stomach by a horse at Newbury last Friday, had at first been expected to leave the unit yesterday. But a hospital spokesman said yesterday it was hoped Carson would move into a surgical ward today where he would continue to be looked after by Dr Myrddin Rees.
