Michael Vaughan believes he is on course to be available for Ashes selection in time for the fourth Test in Melbourne which starts on Boxing Day.
Vaughan, who has been out for a year with a knee injury, said: "I'm going to work for the next few days with the England trainer and try to get to the stage where I can fly to Perth to join the academy to play some cricket.
"How my knee reacts to games, and spending a day in the field... only time will tell. But so far the rehab has gone well and I'm quietly confident that within a month or so I may be available for selection. I've been twisting and turning and haven't had any reaction."
