Tottenham Hotspur to play Juventus in Champions League Round of 16
Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn to play Juventus in the Champions League Round of 16.
Spurs were seeded for the draw after unexpectedly topping their group ahead of defending champions Real Madrid.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Madrid 3-1 at Wembley and also emerged with a point from the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
They also beat Borussia Dortmund and APOEL both home and away.
Last season’s runners-up Juventus meanwhile came second in Group D behind Barcelona.
With Gianluigi Buffon seeking a fairytale ending to his career after three times suffering defeat in the Champions League final, Juve are once again leaning heavily on their defence. They kept clean sheets in three of their six group stage matches, including a goalless draw with group winners Barcelona.
Pochettino will be happy however, he declared after the club’s win against Stoke this weekend that he was hoping for one of the “big teams” as it would better motivate his players.
The first legs will be played on 13, 14, 20 and 21 February, with the return legs played on 6, 7, 13 and 14 March 2018.
