Whatever Glenn Hoddle's qualities as a coach, questions will still be asked about his buying record while players such as Stein languish in Chelsea's reserves. A pounds 1.5m signing from Stoke three years ago, the 30- year-old striker has not figured in the first team since an injury ruled him out last November.
