Motor Cycling: Haydon keen to end holiday and return to testing

James Haydon wants to get Christmas out of the way as soon as possible so he can return to testing with the Foggy Petronas Racing team. Haydon has taken a break after the team completed their latest test session but is impatient to get back on track in Australia and Malaysia in the new year. The British rider, who will contest his first full season in the World Superbike Championship for the team of four-times world champion Carl Fogarty in 2003, wants to put a frustrating year behind him. The team failed to show during what was to be their debut championship season after missing production deadlines.

Having returned from Valencia in Spain, where he tested Michelin tyres and development work on the FP1 machine with his team-mate Troy Corser, Haydon is keen to get back on track again. Although part of the Valencia test was washed out by rain, he said: "We made up for lost time, working well through a number of development areas and further clarifying our path for moving forward."

Fogarty was also happy to see the team move forward with their development work, and said: "It was a shame the weather spoilt things a little but we did manage to learn a lot, especially on the cooling system. We are still at a stage when, even if the weather is bad, we are able to learn and make progress."
