Jason Plato moved a step closer to securing the British Touring Car Championship title with victory in the final race at Knockhill yesterday.
The 42-year-old Chevrolet Cruze driver produced the passing move of the day to overtake fellow title-chaser Tom Onslow-Cole on lap 22 and clinch his fourth win of the season.
With just two more rounds remaining – at Donington Park and Brands Hatch – Plato is now 20 points ahead of his closest rival Matt Neal, who won yesterday's second race, in the drivers' championship.
"We've been there or thereabouts today but it's been thirsty work and to grab a win in the final race of the day is a big bonus for our championship," said Plato. "Donington should suit our car better than here, but I'm not counting my chickens... I've lost this thing far more times than I've won it."
