Racing: A weekly list of horses to follow

DARA DOONE: looked sure to win when taking the lead at the second last at Ascot on Friday, but failed to stay in the testing conditions, eventually finishing third behind Sweet Glow. Well handicapped and can return to winning ways given less testing conditions. (R Akehurst).

KATY'S LAD: fair middle-distance handicapper on the Flat. Made an encouraging debut over hurdles at Leicester on Tuesday, staying on strongly to finish second having made several mistakes early on. Will improve and can open his account in similar company. (B McMahon).

KOVALEVSKIA: took time to get used to the new-style hurdles at Southwell on Tuesday, losing several lengths at each of the first four obstacles. Having appeared out of touch at halfway he began to jump more fluently and finished strongly to take fourth. Well worth another chance on the all- weather. (D A Wilson).
