Rodney Farrant faces a lengthy spell out of action after sustaining a fractured right tibia at Wincanton yesterday.
The jockey came to grief at the first fence of the novices' handicap chase when his mount, High Mood, took a crashing fall.
Farrant lay motionless for some time before being taken by stretcher from the trackand by ambulance to Yeovil General Hospital.
To make matters worse Farrant missed the winning mount in the concluding race when his intended ride, Cherrymore, won for substitute Gerry Hogan.
