Racing: For the Notebook
A weekly list of horses to follow:
BALLET PRINCE: Ran with distinction to finish a two-length third behind Duke Of Eurolink and Quick Ransom over a mile-and-a-half at Goodwood on Friday. Not only was that trip inadequate, but the ground proved too lively for this lightly-raced colt who looks likely to play a big role in the 1m 6f Ebor Handicap on 17 August. (M Stoute)
SHIFTING MIST: completed a four-timer at Thirsk on Friday, easing up but still winning by five lengths. A rise in the weights must follow, but her dam, Misty Halo, was a prolific winner for the stable, which is sure to continue to place her to the best advantage. (Sir M Prescott)
SLIVOVITZ: travelled like the winner of the Nottingham Stewards' Cup all the way except on the line, when just caught by Captain Carat, on Monday night, when the rest did not come close to landing a blow. This improved form looks good enough to land a handicap in the near future. (M Heaton-Ellis)
