Racing: For the Notebook
ALRIFFA: Looked the most backward and was weakest in the market of the four colts that pulled clear of 15 others in Newmarket's Wood Ditton Stakes on Wednesday. Only Derby possible Airport finished ahead and several large reputations were left trailing in a race run in a useful time which will provide several future winners. (R Hannon)
BALDA BOY: Four times a winner in Ireland, this 10-year- old chaser is slowly regaining form and was a good second to Rafiki at Uttoxeter on Tuesday. Prefers soft. (T Forster)
DEL DEYA: Although now four, was having only fifth career start when winning Earl of Sefton Stakes and can continue to improve. (J Gosden)
ISTIBSHAR: Given a tender ride when fifth in the well contested maiden won by Numbered Account at Newmarket on Tuesday. Easy in the market compared with stable-companion Night Bell, who finished second. (J Gosden)
MOKHTAR: Full-brother to Salsabil who finished second to Sieve Of Time in Tuesday's Newmarket maiden won last year by Commander In Chief. Holds the Derby entry but can pick up some smaller contests on the way. (J Dunlop)
