SADDLEHOME: outpaced early on in the 5f race won by Spender at Southwell on Monday, but ran on well in the closing stages to snatch fourth place. Ridden by an inexperienced jockey that day, but stronger handling and an extra furlong should see this four- year-old return to the winners' enclosure. (T D Barron)

LIE DETECTOR: this five- year-old looks a fine staying prospect. Third to the well-regarded Ned The Hill and Kenilworth when tackling 2m 5 1/2 f at Nottingham on Thursday. Will stay further and will come on for that race, his hurdles debut. (O Sherwood)
