RACECOURSE Technical Services will continue to provide on-course camera patrols, the British Horseracing Board announced yesterday after rejecting a rival bid from SIS.

The board's chairman, Tristram Ricketts, said: 'We have decided the longer term interests of racing will best be served if the camera-patrol service continues to be provided by RTS. The difference of less than pounds 200,000 between the RTS budget price and the lower SIS tender would be more than offset by termination costs which would arise if RTS were no longer to provide the service.'

Ricketts discounted speculation that bookmaker ownership of SIS had counted against the bid, saying that on this issue the board 'could find no grounds for concern.'
