Two horses will come under close scrutiny during the Bramham Horse Trials, which begin today near Wetherby in Yorkshire, writes Genevieve Murphy.
The performances of Mary King's Star Appeal and William Fox-Pitt's mount, Cosmopolitan II, will have a definite bearing on the choice of the British Olympic three-day event squad, named on Monday.
Neither horse jumped the cross-country course at Badminton. Cosmopolitan had been coughing before the event and he was withdrawn. Star Appeal was retired after a fall. Both horses will do the full dressage, cross-country and show jumping tests.
