THE undefeated European bantamweight champion, 'Prince' Naseem Hamed, of Sheffield, will take on Freddy Cruz for the vacant WBC super-bantamweight title at Ponds Forge on 12 October.
SIR David Hopkin, president of the British Boxing Board of Control and formerly London's chief magistrate, is to head an inquiry into the crowd disturbance during the WBC world title contest between Nigel Benn and Juan Carlos Gimenez at the NEC in Birmingham last Saturday.
ALFRED KOTY, the WBO bantamweight champion from London, makes a voluntary defence of his title at Marton Hotel and Country Club, Middlesbrough, on 24 October when he faces the American Julius Cesar Barbao.
