LAWRIE SMITH, the British skipper on the European W60 Intrum Justitia, yesterday saw his hopes of winning the fifth leg of the Whitbread Round the World race falter in the heat of the Equator. Only a week ago, Intrum Justitia held a three and a half hour overall lead in the W60 class following the dismasting of Tokio. Now, Intrum Justitia is 155 miles behind her closest rival, Yamaha.
