PETER NICOL followed his conquest of the world No 1, Jansher Khan, in Cardiff a fortnight ago with a dramatic defeat of the world No 2, Brett Martin, which confirmed the Scottish champion's advancing claims as a potential world champion at the Barringtons Club here yesterday, writes Richard Eaton from Vale do Lobo, Portugal.
The carefully crafted 15-12, 13- 15, 15-10, 15-10 success over the Australian also ensured a British player will contest tomorrow's Portuguese Open final.
'I was given good advice between games from Peter Marshall, to try to get the ball in the air and put it over his head, and it worked,' Nicol said. 'Now I can use Peter's own advice against him.' The pair meet today.
