STEFAN EDBERG UNSEEDED FOR FRENCH OPEN

For the first time since his debut at Roland-Garros in 1984, Sweden's Stefan Edberg will not be seeded at the French Open which starts next Monday. Ranked 17th in the latest ATP rankings, Edberg, who has won all the Grand Slam tournaments but the French Open, can still hope for the withdrawal of a seeded player.

Russia will play their Davis Cup World Group semi-final against Germany in Moscow. The semi-final between the defending champions Sweden and the United States will be played in Las Vegas. Both take place on 22-24 September.
Jimmy Connors defeated John McEnroe 7-6 6-4 in the Challenge Championship at the Beach and Tennis Club in Pebble Beach, California.
