The number of FA Cup finals played at Wembley before the first replay was required in 1970, when Chelsea and Leeds reconvened at Old Trafford after a 2-2 draw. Saturday's stalemate was the sixth in the past 24 seasons. In the pre-Wembley era (1872-1922) there were eight replays, the first between Old Etonians and Royal Engineers at The Oval in 1875.
