Todd seeks consistency

Colin Todd has urged his Bolton Wanderers side to prove their flying start to the season is no flash in the pan.

Bolton go into today's Nationwide League home match against Norwich with four points from their opening two games, including a victory over the First Division championship favourites, Manchester City.

Todd is calling for the consistency needed to steer Bolton back to the Premiership at the first attempt. "Now we must make sure we maintain a high level of performance both as a team and as individuals," he said. "The season is all about producing the goods consistently."

Bolton will miss the injured defenders Gudni Bergsson and Simon Coleman, while the midfielder Scott Sellars is doubtful because of a thigh strain. David Lee is on standby.

Manchester City face a testing trip to Stoke with Paul Dickov, a pounds 1m signing from Arsenal yesterday, poised to make his debut. Alan Ball, the City manager, said: "I have tracked Paul for a long time... He is a very good player and goalscorer."

The Ipswich Town manager, George Burley, is hoping Ian Marshall will pass a fitness test on a groin strain to face Reading at Portman Road. James Scowcroft, who has recovered from a thigh strain, is on standby to replace the former Oldham target man.
