Oldham and Featherstone are hoping to avoid each other in today's Challenge Cup semi- final draw in order to have the chance of preventing a Wigan-Leeds final
Oldham, who have never appeared at Wembley, avoided a potential upset with a 23-12 win over visiting Huddersfield, the Second Division side who had already accounted for Halifax and Keighley, while Featherstone disposed of another team from the lower league in a 42-14 win at Whitehaven.
The scrum-half Martin Crompton helped ensure Oldham's fourth semi-final appearance in the last 10 years with two tries, while the Frenchman Fred Banquet went over three times as Featherstone ran in seven tries despite an arduous trip to Cumbria.
Featherstone, who last played in the semi-finals 12 years ago, recovered from an early setback when Lee Anderson landed a penalty following a high tackle.
