Talking when the teacher is, passing notes to friends, mobile phones out when they shouldn’t be, and just general tomfoolery in class would all warrant a detention slip or two from a ruffled teacher.

One Imgur user, however, has been providing the laughs and provoking discussion after uploading images of some of the most ridiculous and funniest detention slips possibly known to mankind.

One eager Hunger Games fan received that dreaded piece of paper after her teacher wrote: “When I asked the class who could solve my math problem Katie stood up and screamed ‘I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!’ at the top of her lungs, disturbing the rest of my class.” Katie had to report at the end of period four that day.

Another young pupil named Anthony - clearly a fan of Superman - was punished also. Reason for his detention? “Disturbing class by standing, unbuttoning his shirt to reveal a Superman T shirt and announcing he was Superman.” Undoubtedly a legendary move, Anthony had to go too.

This may be the most random sentence you will probably read today, but who knew Harry Potter references, proving the teacher wrong, sandwich-throwing and yelling “YOLO”, and showing off cat pictures could all warrant a detention slip? Students out there: you have been warned.
