June's dark fairytale of Burton-esque insanity, Alice: Madness Returns, is to be accompanied by a download code for the original American McGee's Alice.

With Madness Returns due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well as PC and Mac, it will be the first time that American McGee's Alice appears on consoles, having been a PC and Mac release back in October 2000.

The sequel's Wonderland can no longer offer safe haven to Alice who, recently released from a mental asylum, flits from the world of dreams and nightmares to a grimy Dickensian London, hunting for clues about her parents' death years before.

Wonderland characters such as the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and White Rabbit will be present, along with other Lewis Carroll creations including the Jabberwocky and the Vorpal Blade.

Alice: Madness Returns comes out on June 14 in North America, June 16 in European regions - around the same time as Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Duke Nukem Forever, and the similarly unusual Shadows of the Damned.

Alice's official website can be found at www.ea.com/alice, with a Facebook page at facebook.com/alicemadnessreturns.
