BestBuy leaks pre-order prices of Google Nexus 7 tablet
Middle-child of the Nexus range will sell for approximately £150 for 16GB, £170 for 32GB
Although set to be officially launched in San Francisco this evening, Google’s new tablet – the Nexus 7 2 – has already found its way onto the site of US retailers Best Buy as available for preorder.
Priced at $229.99 for the 16GB version and $269.99 for the 32GB, the Nexus 7 comes with a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1200 and a pixel density of 323ppi. Inside the tablet comes with 2GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz Snapdragon Pro processor and dedicated graphic card, the Adreno 320.
The Nexus 7 is the middle-child in Google’s flagship Nexus range, on sale alongside a smartphone (the Nexus 4 – with a four-inch screen) and a larger tablet (the Nexus 10 - I’m sure you can guess where it got the name).
Running the Android operating system, the Nexus 7 is set to compete with other smaller tablets such as the iPad mini (which sports a 7.9-inch display), the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (an 8-inch display) and the Kindle Fire HD (7 or 8.9-inch).
Whilst Google’s offerings generally win out in terms of price and screen quality, Apple still has its extensive app ecosystem and an updated iPad mini 2 is probably on the cards before the end of the year.
The full reveal for the new Nexus will start from 5pm this evening, though the pre-order pages also confirm that the device will support a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera (and a 1.2-megapixel cam on the front) and will measure 0.3-inches thick and weigh 312g.
