High-tech product releases: world's fastest notebook, notebooks for snow sports fans

High-tech product releases announced the week ending December 15 include the fastest notebook on the planet for mobile gamers, designer-inspired notebooks for the cold weather, a 3D Blu-ray home theatre system, high performance SD memory cards, and LG's slimmest computer monitor.

The world's fastest notebook
MSI claims its brand new GT680 is the "fastest notebook on the planet." According to the company, the GT680 performs three times faster than the average high end gaming notebook available in today's stores. To get to those speeds it packs in Intel's latest four core CPU, a high end discrete graphics card from nVidia GeForce and four DDR3 memory slots. The notebook will be on display at the CES in January 2011. No pricing or release dates have been announced.

Designer notebooks for snow-loving technology users
HP has collaborated with mountain lifestyle brand Rossignol to create two limited edition notebooks for snow sports fans. The HP Pavilion dv6 Rossignol edition notebooks are designed to complement Rossignol's existing line of skis and accessories; the Attraxion VIII Echo for women, and the Freeride S7 for men. The Pavilion dv6 Rossignol edition notebooks will be available from mid January 2011 starting from €699.

A 3D Blu-ray home theatre system that will convert your DVDs into HD
LG's HX995TZ 3D Blu-ray 5.1 surround sound, 1100W home theatre system is built for fans of high definition audio and picture quality. It is capable of improving the quality of your DVDs with 1080p upscaling and also includes LG's Netcast service (with access to weather reports, photos, YouTube) and a dock so you can connect your iPhone or iPod for video playback through your TV. The HX995TZ is available now from Amazon UK for £439.95 (€520).

High performance SD memory cards for memory-hungry devices
Sony has launched a new category of high-speed SD memory cards, encompassing the SF-32NX 16NX and 8NX SD memory cards, for users that require fast data transfer speeds of up to 20MB/s. The EXPERT Series range comes in 8,16 and 32GB versions and is ideal for storing continuous burst shooting and 3D imaging. The SF-32NX/16NX/8NX cards are available from January 2011. No pricing information has been released.

LG's slimmest LED monitor
At just 7.2 mm in depth, LG's E90 LED monitor is currently the company's slimmest. The E90 is perfect for consumers who want to watch movies and videos on their desktop PC. It has a response time of 2 milliseconds (which helps the display remain clear and bright even when displaying fast-moving action sequences) and LG's own Image Booster technology to help enhance and improve the blurriness that can be caused when streaming video content. The monitor will be available later this month in select markets. No price has been made available.
