Instagram repost: Button to 'Regram' other people’s pictures and videos being tested

Instagram is working on several potentially huge new features.

One of these, a Regram button, would be enormously popular, as it’s something users have been hoping to see for several years.

It will work in a very similar manner to Retweets on Twitter or the Share function on Facebook, letting users reshare other people’s content from their own account.

The button, which sits alongside the Like, Comment and Direct Message options, was spotted by The Next Web’s Matt Navarra.

To “Regram” pictures and videos on Instagram, you currently either have to save them and repost them, or rely on third-party apps like Regram.

A dedicated Regram button would make the process much smoother, and potentially more secure too.

The Next Web has also spotted a new Instagram Stories option called Highlight, which lets you keep a Story on your profile for longer than 24 hours, which is the standard limit.

Instagram is also testing a closest friends list, similar to Top 8 on Myspace, which is like a group chat just for Instagram posts.

It has created a GIF search feature too, and a “Share to WhatsApp” button that will make it easier for you to share Instagram-edited photos through the messaging app.

All of the features described above are currently being tested by the site, which will develop those it considers to be the most promising further, before hopefully launching them properly.
