The next Lego video game isn't another LucasFilm or Warner Bros tie-in as before, but is in fact inspired by a Disney franchise, as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies are concertinaed into playable form.
The game will include scenes and characters from all four Pirates of the Caribbean films: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Dead Man's Chest (2006), At World's End (2007), and May 2011's On Stranger Tides.
Just as the Lego game versions of Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter allowed players to control major and minor characters as they bounced their way through multiple locations, Pirates is to offer over 70 characters and 20 levels taken from the quadrilogy.
As usual, there's a cooperative mode for two players, and completed levels can be re-explored with new characters to find new items previously out of reach.
Both Lego Pirates of the Caribbean and its big screen sibling are coming out in May - the film releases worldwide between May 18 and 20.
That's just a week before Kung Fu Panda 2's North American debut on May 27, with a video game on June 3, and a worldwide release staggered throughout June.
