The Nordic Game Conference 2011 handed out awards to five of the best games from the past year on May 11, with Limbo, Minecraft and Ilomilo beating out some big budget competitors including Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Alan Wake.
Computer game Minecraft took Best Artistic Achievement, despite competition from Just Cause 2 and Kane & Lynch 2.
Limbo won Best Nordic Game, a group in which Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Alan Wake, Dead Nation and Just Cause 2 were also nominated.
Ilomilo is, like Limbo, downloadable from the Xbox 360's Live Arcade, and also has a Windows Phone 7 version in the offing.
It was given the award for Best Nordic Children's Game; PlayStation 3 title Landit Bandit and the iPhone's classical music jigsaw puzzle Maximus Musicus were among fellow contenders.
Best Nordic Handheld Game was Axe in Face for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, while the upcoming Vikings on Trampolines was declared this year's Nordic Indie Sensation.
