Netflix on Sky Q: TV companies finally join forces to create 'Ultimate On Demand' package

Netflix has finally arrived on Sky Q, allowing the two companies to team up for what they say is the ultimate on demand package.

The partnership will allow people to watch Netflix shows like any other box set on their Sky box. But it will also be fully integrated, meaning that new series will appear as recommendations on the homepage.

And the two subscriptions will be tied together, too, allowing people to pay for their Netflix subscription through their Sky bill and tie the two offerings together for cheaper than they would be separately.

The package, known as "Ultimate On Demand", will cost £10 for new and existing Sky Q customers. It comes on a 31-day rolling contract, meaning it can be cancelled at any time.

But existing Netflix customers who want to keep them separate can just sign in as normal on the Sky Q box to watch their shows. And the combined login will work on the normal Netflix app.

“We want Sky Q to be the number one destination for TV fans," said Stephen Van Rooyen, chief executive of Sky UK and Ireland. "Partnering with Netflix means we will have all the best TV in one great value pack, making it even easier for you to watch all of your favourite shows”.

The partnership between the two companies was first announced months ago, in March. It is part of the addition of a range of on-demand services to the Sky box, which also includes YouTube and other video services and Spotify.
