ON THE subject of my problems in tuning in to BBC World Service, a number of readers have written to recommend the advantages of investing in a digitally controlled shortwave radio, which can store all World Service wavelengths. These can be accessed simply at the touch of a button in order quickly to discover the best reception. .

Gabriel McGee of London recommends a visit to the BBC World Service Shop at Bush House, Strand, London WC2, which sells a range of suitable radios as well as their programme guide with hints on frequencies.
