i Editor's Letter: Improving our personal finance coverage

In response to reader demand, we are going to improve i’s personal finance coverage from next week.
Just before Christmas, John Anderson from Paignton in south Devon wrote to me about our Personal Finance Editor: “Simon Read deserves more space on topics of the week and ongoing things like energy.”
I once saw the (then) British Gas managing director Phil Bentley turn a rich shade of purple as Simon, faced by obfuscation, unbottled readers’ wrath about energy bills. So I vouch for Simon having the public’s interests at heart.
Warwick’s Bill Fleming wrote: “It would be good to see more family/personal finance articles.” He was backed by other readers like Lydia Wayland, David Fensome of Harpenden, and Morene Pinder.
We already run two “Your Money” pages on a Saturday, but it has been apparent for some time that we could provide a more regular service for you.
Every Wednesday will bring a new single page, Midweek Money, led by Simon. You will be able to find it immediately after our Business section and before the Weather.
In addition, you will from Monday, 24 February, also be able to find a small “Daily Money” item within our Business section each day. We know, with the i cover price rising to 30 pence after a three-and-a-quarter-year freeze, that we are asking for a little more money from your pocket. Hopefully our coverage will help to put some back in.
Simon would like to invite readers’ ideas and feedback for the new coverage. You can email him directly at s.read@independent.co.uk.
