IS IT your Real Life writer, Jenny Cuffe, or her interviewee, Dr Helena Daly ('perhaps in her late thirties . . . single, unrepentantly slim, tanned, with auburn hair and glittering eyes'), or both, who think that the 'workforce of predominantly middle-aged women' . . . 'secretaries, lab technicians and nurses' are best described as 'junior staff'?

Still, I suppose it simply would not do to extend the privilege of going about with bare legs to all and sundry, especially 'junior staff'.

Yours, hot-and-bothered, senior staff nurse, aged 25 years and one month, married, reluctantly skinny, pale with mousey hair and glittering teeth.
