Sir: Your report (28 December) of an electronic car-tracking device being used to trace and recover a stolen BMW was not before time. Some 14 years ago, in his book Turbo, Douglas Rutherford was kind enough to accept my advice and described one as fitted in a Saab. I now have a slight inkling of how Arthur C. Clarke must feel all the time.
