Sir: While I was interested to read your article (Weekend, 2 October) about the new Klais organ in St John's, Smith Square, 'the Mercedes of the Organ World', I do feel that you should have made some comment in defence of British organ builders, seen by so many people throughout the world as the Rolls-Royce of the Organ World.

At a time when the UK is already buying far too much in the way of imported goods, what happened to such internationally famous names as Harrison and Harrison, Noel Mander, J. W. Walker et al, who are considered by so many people, both here and abroad, as the best there is?

Yours faithfully,

D. E. HARVEY
