Sir: Christchurch will doubtless be explained by John Major as mid-term blues and a fall-out from the present recession. Voters, however, know it is a reflection of a Government that won't acknowledge its mistakes, and therefore can't learn from them, but is all too ready to accept credit for the efforts of others. Couple this with the absence of a clear strategy and the cynical use and abuse of parliamentary processes to maintain power at all costs and it is of no surprise, except apparently to Sir Norman Fowler, that Christchurch voters have said 'Enough]'
