Letter: Classless Society

ERITH COOK (Letters, 20 September) is surprised how quickly John Major has lost his vision of a classless society. In a reply to a letter I wrote to the Prime Minister, his political office told me that Mr Major 'did not intend his idea to include the abolition of the monarchy'. Perhaps it is time for him to learn the meaning of the puzzling word 'classless'.
