Letter: Constitutional realities: a society in need of definition

Sir: Your correspondents (4 June) who imagine that a republican Britain must follow the US-style of presidency are mistaken. There are more attractive models nearer home. How about the Swiss version? Switzerland celebrated 700 years of republican federalism recently. Economically, neither the r-word nor the

f-word seem to have done much harm.
