Sir: Further to your article on Telethon '92 (Media, 8 July), I am a disabled person with a partner, three children and a responsible job. I have been a secondary school teacher for 18 years.
I reject and resent the images of disabled people perpetrated by Telethon. They are negative stereotypes that do more harm to the cause of freedom for disabled people than anything else.
What disabled people in this country, and for that matter throughout the world, need is anti-discriminatory legislation and human rights.
Yours in freedom,
MALCOLM GOLDWATER
