In your breakdown of the top 20 subjects in adult education ("New language, new curtains, new lover", 15 September), where are the sciences? It is generally accepted that as a society we are scientifically illiterate and it is a shame that adult education classes are not addressing this problem.

In my own area, I can find only one subject with a scientific foundation (astronomy) while "pseudo-sciences" and "new wave" subjects such as reflexology and aromatherapy are two-a-penny.
