James Brown's manners may not be to everyone's taste (his taste may not be to everyone's taste) but there is no denying he is the most revolutionary force in British magazines today (Review, 5 October). Loaded not only changed the face of publishing, it shifted our cultural landscape, it shaped its time. To write a profile without acknowledging Brown's achievements is unfair, lax and mealy-minded. Brown might be wayward but he's talented and gets results more pedestrian editors can only dream of: you don't get the goals of Ian Wright without the tantrums.
