LET us have league tables for MPs. These could be based on easily collected figures such as numbers of speeches made, constituents' letters answered, hours spent in the chamber and European languages spoken. Performance-related pay would follow and the bottom 10 per cent would be sacked. This would create an interesting number of by-elections and raise unemployment awareness among MPs.
