Sir: Roy W. Smith's concern (Letters, 14 August) for a wider religious syllabus brings to mind the scrupulous cleric who, in the Cambridge Divinity Schools between the wars, delivered the weekly core course on Comparative Religions. At the end of his fair-minded, 50-minute exposition of each variant faith he would diffidently add: '. . . if there's anything in that.'
