Sir: The late Vincent McNabb, OP, who used to cobble his own boots to save the Order of Preachers the cost of ready-made ones, is reputed to have gone into the pulpit at Brompton Oratory, glanced round at the well-heeled congregation and said: 'The text of my sermon today is taken from the Gospel according to St Matthew, chapter 19, verse 24: 'It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.' My brethren, it is easier.' He then descended from the pulpit.
Yours sincerely,
