Letter: Spurred into action

Sir: As a lifelong Tottenham Hotspur supporter, I am astounded that Alan Sugar has lost sight of his undoubted business acumen. Does he not realise that if he succeeds in usurping Terry Venables from the helm of the club, he (and ultimately the club) will suffer inexorably.

The withholding of season ticket renewals and an embargo on purchases of the forthcoming team strip is merely the beginning, and will probably lead to economic coercion of the products in which the bearded protagonist has a major interest.

I, and the great majority of Spurs' devotees, will not set foot inside White Hart Lane if Mr Venables is ousted. Let us hope that good sense and the law are ad idem.

Yours,

JAMES DIMMOCK
